How much free Space should you maintain in your computer hard drive?

What’s the ideal free space to maintain on your computer’s hard drive?
Most experts has recommended that at least 20% free space of the hard drive should be kept free so that this extra space can be used to store temporary files by applications you run, defragmentation programs, or new files/programs that you add in to you computer.

You can consider upgrading your hard drive if the free space in your hard drive has reduced less than 20%. But all new computers come with huge hard drive (200 to 300 Gigabytes) don’t necessarily have to have 20% free space.
If you store a lot of digital photos/music/videos in your computer hard drive even bigger hard drive can be used up pretty quickly. You should regularly delete the unnecessary old files. Also adding an extra dive or using external drive to store large file another good option.
